Ticket prices: $23 adult, $20 senior (62+), $12 youth (17 and under) Born 26 years ago on an island in the harbor city of Nanaimo, B.C., Allison’s musical reach is global. Influenced by such diverse artists as Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald, she carried this music into her school band and music theatre studies, and found a music coach to help harness her vocal instrument. By age 15, she was playing to growing crowds in coffee-houses and bars up and down her island. At age 17, she won the VIEX Island Songbird Competition, topping 17 other vocalists. In 2002, the same year she completed her first national concert tour, she was a featured guest artist on the website of multi-platinum recording artist Jewel. Jewel's website stated: "Beautifully moody or riotously rocking, Allison Crowe creates piano-based music of transcendent quality”. Following in the footsteps of dynamic female performers such as Ani DiFranco and Loreena McKennit, Allison created her own label, Rubenesque Records in 2003 and has released six albums since then.
Allison is not only a talented songwriter and visceral performer, but also a supreme interpreter of song. Allison’s performance of “In My Life” at the UK’s John Lennon Northern Lights Festival was lauded as “one of the weekend’s magical moments”, according to The Scotsman.
